SEATTLE, WA – Far Homes (www.farhomes.com), a technology-powered marketplace that makes it easier for foreigners to find and buy homes in Mexico, announced they are launching farhomes.ca, to create a better experience for Canadians who are shopping for homes abroad.
There is growing demand for buying homes across borders, and growing migration of foreigners to Mexico, with Canadians having one of the largest increases in Mexico migration of any country since 2010. The trend is driven by Canadians looking for warmer weather, but being priced out of some of the historically popular warm weather locales in the U.S. due to rising home prices there. Additionally, with the rise of remote work and the “live and work anywhere” model, more people than ever have the option to move anywhere full or part-time.
“We weren’t sure what the rules were for foreigners buying in Mexico. Far Homes made it easy to get connected with an agent who held our hand through the entire process.” says Etienne Mathieu of Québec City, Que. who recently used Far Homes to buy their new home in Puerto Aventuras. Leslie Dunn of Mission, B.C. found Far Homes when she was finalizing the purchase of a home in Puerto Morelos and the seller started making requests that seemed unreasonable. “I found Far Homes through an internet search and their thorough information made me feel like they would give me helpful advice. “We set out to help anybody purchase a home in Mexico, but with 17% of our traffic, and over 30% of our successful clients coming from Canada, we knew we needed a product that met their specific needs,” says Chet Kittleson, CEO of Far Homes. Farhomes.ca now shows home-prices in Canadian dollars, and the company added their first French-speaking partners earlier this year. In the future they also plan to add French-speaking customer support, and launch a tool that helps Canadians understand their financing options when buying in Mexico.
Far Homes currently serves buyers searching in coastal Quintana Roo, primarily in the cities of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The company has plans to expand to Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos by the end of this summer. The company announced a $2.25M pre-seed investment in September.
